Yes. We bulk bill eligible children aged 0 to 17 under the Medicare Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS), so there is no out-of-pocket cost for covered treatments within your child's remaining benefit. Our CDBS dentist in Croydon page sets out eligibility, what is covered and how to check your balance.
It depends on the calendar year in which your child received their first eligible dental service, not on the year you are in now. If that was 2026, the cap is $1,158 for the whole two-year period. If it was 2025, the cap is $1,132, and it stays at that figure even where treatment continues into 2026. Services Australia indexes the cap each 1 January and the increase applies only to children whose first service falls in that year.
It is forfeited. The benefit runs across two consecutive calendar years starting from the beginning of the year in which your child became eligible and had their first service, and anything unspent at the end is lost. It does not roll over into a new period. If your child has benefit remaining late in the second year, it is worth booking before 31 December.
No. Medicare does not fund routine dental care for adults, including check-ups, cleans, fillings, crowns or dentures. The only federal dental program under Medicare is the Child Dental Benefits Schedule, which covers eligible children aged 0 to 17. Adults in Victoria holding a healthcare or pensioner concession card may be eligible for state-funded public dental care, and adults with private health extras can claim through their fund. Our Medicare and the dentist page explains each pathway.
No. We check your child's eligibility and their remaining benefit amount at the appointment, so just bring their Medicare card. If you would rather check beforehand, sign in to myGov, select Medicare, then History and statements, then Child Dental Benefits Schedule, or call Medicare on 132 011.
Please bring your health fund card, Medicare card, any relevant dental X-rays, a list of current medications, and a completed medical history form (available on our website).
